Our mission at Mt Holly Duck Sanctuary is to create a safe and caring home for ducks and other waterfowl while also promoting their well-being and protection. Our refuge, founded by Jean Harris, is a safe haven for these amazing creatures, where they can survive and prosper in their natural environment. Our refuge, located in the charming town of Mt Holly, is dedicated to conserving the beauty and diversity of waterfowl.

Our Story

Jean Harris’ profound love and affection for ducks inspired the creation of Mt Holly Duck Sanctuary. Jean spent endless hours as a child growing up beside a lake, studying and playing with the ducks that called it home. She admired their grace, fortitude, and the harmony they brought to their surroundings.

Jean noticed the critical need for a duck sanctuary as she grew more interested in animal welfare and conservation initiatives. Many of these gorgeous creatures were threatened by factors such as habitat loss, pollution, and poaching. Jean set out on a mission to build a safe haven for ducks where they might dwell without fear or interruption.

Jean’s idea became a reality thanks to the help of other animal enthusiasts and committed volunteers. Mt Holly Duck Sanctuary was founded to provide a safe haven for ducks to heal, mature, and live their lives. The refuge has grown and changed since its humble beginnings, becoming an important hub for education, rescue, and rehabilitation.

Our Values

Compassion: We think that all living beings should be treated with kindness and empathy. Every duck that comes to our refuge is treated with kindness and respect, and they are given the care they require.

Conservation: We are devoted to maintaining and protecting waterfowl species, and we are working hard to raise awareness about their role in the ecosystem. We try to instill a sense of responsibility and stewardship in our community through education and outreach activities.

Collaboration: We acknowledge the value of collaboration and actively seek out like-minded individuals, organizations, and scholars to collaborate with. We can have a stronger impact and effect positive change for ducks and other waterfowl species if we work together.

Education: We believe in the power of information and the role it can play in fostering a greater understanding and appreciation for ducks. We hope to teach visitors of all ages about the distinctive traits, behaviors, and needs of waterfowl through workshops, seminars, and guided tours.

The Sanctuary

Our refuge, nestled among the natural splendor of Mt Holly, provides a safe haven for ducks to grow. The sanctuary provides a paradise for ducks to live in peace with nature, with lush foliage, tranquil ponds, and plenty of freedom to wander. We have constructed a variety of environments to meet the varying demands of various duck species, ensuring that they can live a life that is similar to their native surroundings.

Our committed staff of caregivers and volunteers work diligently to provide the ducks with the best possible care. We focus on their health and happiness, from regular health check-ups to a nutritious diet. Furthermore, we actively participate in rescue and rehabilitation initiatives, giving injured or orphaned ducks a second opportunity.
